Get Certified: AOCN® Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria for AOCN® Certification Renewal

  1. Current AOCN® certification in good standing
  2. Current, active, unrestricted RN license
  3. A minimum of 1,000 hours in an advanced practice nursing role in adult oncology within the four years (48 months) prior to application

Oncology nursing practice may be in the areas of nursing administration, clinical practice, education, or research. However, the master's or higher degree must be in nursing. All eligibility criteria must be met at the time of application.

Candidates renewing certification initially earned prior to the year 2000 are not required to hold a master's or higher degree in nursing.
