Get Certified: 2008 Test Information

Thank you for applying for an ONCC Certification Test. To help you prepare for your test, please take a few moments to review the following information.

Preparing for Your Certification Test
ONCC offers a variety of resources to help you prepare for a certification test, including Study Tips, Practice Tests to help you simulate the testing experience, and links to Review Courses.

Your best resource for preparing for an ONCC certification test is the Test Blueprint. The Blueprint (or test content outline) identifies all the subject areas from which test items are developed. In addition, the Test Blueprint identifies the percentage of questions that come from each of the subject areas. ONCC certification examinations are comprehensive tests - be sure to study all areas of the Test Blueprint, including areas that you may not be familiar with from your daily practice.

Please note that ONCC does not publish review books or conduct review courses. It would be a conflict of interest for a certification testing organization to publish study materials for a test.

Test Day Tips
Before your test day, take a few extra moments to be sure you are prepared. If you're unfamiliar with the test location, contact the test center to obtain directions. If possible, make a test run so you'll know the way and allow for traffic delays. Plan to arrive at the center 30 minutes before your test time.

Take your Authorization to Test with you to the Test Center. Be sure you have two forms of acceptable identification with you. Do not bring any study materials, personal belongings, or guests with you to the test center. Personal belongings will not be permitted in the testing room, and visitors will not be permitted to wait in the testing center. Please note the following important ID requirements:

  • You must bring two forms of ID and the Authorization to Test (ATT) with you to the test center.
  • Both forms of ID must be signed, current/non-expired, and one must bear a recent photograph of you .
  • The name on the photo-bearing ID must exactly match the name of your ATT .
  • You will not be admitted to the test without proper ID
  • Bring official, legal documentation of a name change if your name has changed since you registered for the test. Legal documentation includes a marriage license, divorce decree, or court action documentation. Photocopies of documentation are not acceptable.

What to Do If You Can't Take the Test as Planned
Transfers–If you want to transfer to a different test interval, you must follow the instructions for Requesting a Transfer and pay a transfer fee of $100. If you have already made a test appointment before requesting a transfer, you must also cancel your test appointment. If you don't cancel a test appointment or request a transfer as instructed, you will forfeit your test fees and be required to submit an application and pay the full fee if you wish to take a certification test in the future. Because of the 90-day testing period available to AOCNP® and AOCNP® CBT candidates, no transfers to future test intervals will be granted to AOCNP® or AOCNS® CBT candidates.

Canceling a Test Appointment–If you need to cancel a scheduled test appointment, you must do so before 12:00 noon at least two business days before your test. Please follow the instructions for cancelling a test appointment on your Authorization to Test. If you do not cancel your test appointment as instructed, you will be considered a "no-show" on test day, will forfeit all your test fees, and will be required to submit a new application and full test fee if you wish to take a certification test in the future.

Changing a Test Appointment -If you need to change your test appointment to another day/time within the same testing interval , you must do so before 12:00 noon at least two business days prior to your schedule appointment.
