Get Certified: AOCNS® Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria for Initial AOCNS® Certification

  1. Current, active, unrestricted RN license at the time of application and examination, and
  2. A master's or higher degree in nursing from an accredited institution,
  3. A minimum of 500 hours of supervised clinical practice in an advanced practice role in adult oncology nursing. These hours may be obtained within the graduate educational program or following graduation from the program.

Eligibility Criteria for Renewal of AOCNS® Certification

  1. Current AOCNS® certification in good standing
  2. Current, active, unrestricted RN license
  3. A minimum of 1,000 hours of practice in a role or roles of the clinical nurse specialist in adult oncology within the four years (48 months) prior to application
