Certification Renewal

After an OCN®, CPON®, AOCNP® or AOCNS® earns the credential by testing, they have the option of using ONC-PRO for all subsequent renewals, provided they do not let their certification lapse. As in the past, nurses will continue to have the option to renew by testing, if that is their preference.

Nurses who hold AOCN® certification may renew their certification by ONC-PRO; however, testing is not available for renewal of AOCN® certification.

Certified nurses who are renewing by ONC-PRO should read ONC-PRO Information, which explains the ONC-PRO categories and points.

Those who are renewing by testing should review the Test Information.

Certified nurses who are renewing by the Alternate Renewal Method should review both the ONC-PRO information and test information.

Please note: Although ONCC certification expires on December 31 of the year, candidates who submit their applications by September 15 of the year will receive a discounted application fee (a $75 savings). All applications must be received by October 15 of the year of certification expiration (with payment of the full, non-discounted application fee).
