Eligibility Criteria for Renewal of OCN® Certification
- Current, active, unrestricted RN license at the time of application and examination, and
- A minimum of one year (12 months) experience as an RN within the three years (36 months) prior to application, and
- A minimum of 1,000 hours of oncology nursing practice within the two-and-one-half years (30 months) prior to application.
Nursing experience may be in the areas of nursing administration, education, clinical practice, or research.
Eligibility Criteria for Renewal of AOCN® Certification
- Current AOCN® certification in good standing
- Current, active, unrestricted RN license
- A minimum of 1,000 hours in an advanced practice nursing role in oncology within the four years (48 months) prior to application
Nursing experience may be in the areas of nursing administration, clinical practice, education, or research. However, the master's or higher degree must be in nursing. All eligibility criteria must be met at the time of application.
Candidates renewing certification initially earned prior to the year 2000 are not required to hold a master's or higher degree in nursing.
NOTE: nurses who are currently AOCN®-certified may continue to renew their AOCN® credential by using the Oncology Nursing Certification Points Renewal Option (ONC-PRO). AOCN®-certified nurses who wish to attain the AOCNP® or AOCNS® credential must meet the eligibility criteria and pass the examination for the respective certification.
Eligibility Criteria for Renewal of CPON® Certification
- Current RN license at the time of application and examination, and
- A minimum of one year (12 months) experience as an RN within the three years (36 months) prior to application, and
- A minimum of 1,000 hours of pediatric oncology nursing practice within the two-and-one-half years (30 months) prior to application.
Eligibility criteria must be met at the time of application. Candidates must meet all criteria. |
