Pittsburgh, PA – Jan. 19, 2017 – The Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) announces Karen Sutherland PhD, RN, has joined the organization as Director of Credentialing. Sutherland has extensive experience in the test development industry and the nursing licensure examination.
As Director of Credentialing at ONCC, Sutherland is responsible for oversight of all ONCC certification programs and maintaining national accreditation status of the examinations.
Sutherland has a doctorate in Immunology/Microbiology and a Master’s degree in Medical-Surgical Nursing. Prior to joining ONCC she was a Research Principle Content Developer on the NCLEX Team at Pearson VUE. She is a former Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Nursing, and has published and presented extensively on test development and measurement theory in education.
Sutherland joined ONCC on Jan. 9, 2017.
ONCC is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote health and safety by validating competence and ensuring life-long learning in oncology nursing and related specialties. ONCC administered the first Oncology Certified Nurse examination in 1986. Today, ONCC offers basic and advanced certification in adult oncology nursing, basic certification in pediatric oncology/hematology nursing, and specialty certification in breast care nursing and blood and marrow transplant nursing.
