Paige Johnson Elected to ONCC Board

Paige Johnson, RN, DNP, MPH, APRN, CPHON®, of Kansas City, MO, won the ONCC Board of Directors election in November. She will begin her term on the board in May 2021, serving in a position that may only be filled by a certified pediatric oncology nurse (CPHON/CPON)

Johnson is a Nurse Practitioner at Children’s Mercy Hospital. She is a Chemotherapy Biotherapy Course Instructor for the Association of Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurses (APHON), a member of the Continuing Education Committee for the Kansas City Chapter of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP), and has served as an item writer for the Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP) examination. Johnson is active on her institution’s Ethics Committee and is a clinical volunteer with Care Beyond the Boulevard, an organization that provides quality medical care to her city’s homeless population.

Johnson has a special interest in minority and underserved populations in cancer care. She believes nurses must be aware of the needs of underrepresented populations so we can better serve them, improve diversity in clinical trials, and improve treatment options for all patients.
