How would you promote or further the mission of ONCC as a member of the ONCC Board of Directors?

As a member of the ONCC Board of Directors I would be a strong advocate for the promotion of certification and involvement of oncology nurses from all walks of life. Oncology nurses' range in age, cultural beliefs, gender identity, socioeconomic status, and many more ways than I could list out. From academic centers in big cities to rural community oncology offices, oncology nurses are the heart and core of oncology care. As a nursing leader and potential ONCC Board of Directors member I would strive to bring inclusion and highlight the multitude of diversity of oncology nurses across the country and globe for that matter.

The COVID pandemic has unfortunately propelled many wonderful nurses from leaving the bedside or the field or nursing altogether. Looking at many local ONS chapters, many board members are older or near retirement oncology nurses. As one of the youngest board members of my local ONS chapter I hope to help reinvigorate interest from younger nursing generations to withhold the commitment, excellence, and legacy our older generation of oncology nurses have fostered before us. I would love to bring a younger perspective to the ONCC Board of Directors, promote the value of certification, and help influence how we can make ONCC flourish for generations to come. Thank you for your consideration.
