No prior experience is required, but item writers should have good writing skills, strong knowledge of the subject matter, and a willingness to learn. Item writers will also need to provide their own laptop during the workshop.

Item writers must meet the eligibility criteria for ACON™. If selected, volunteers will be required to submit documentation proving eligibility. Eligibility requirements are:

  • RN License
  • Master's degree, PhD or DNP in nursing
  • 3 years' experience as an RN in the last 5 years
  • 1000 hours of oncology nursing practice within 4 years
  • 1 graduate level oncology course of at least 2 credit hours OR 20 CE hours in adult or pediatric oncology in the last 5 years

Virtual training sessions for the item writing workshop will be held between May 25 - 29, 2026. Participants will be required to attend one training session.

After attending the training session, participants will be given 3-4 weeks to complete their writing assignments.
