This year marks my 40th anniversary as a nurse. After spending the first 15 years in a variety of nursing roles, I found my true calling in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nursing as a bedside nurse on the Blood and Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Nemours Children’s Hospital. From that moment, I knew this was the specialty to which I would dedicate my career.
I am proud to be a nurse and am inspired daily by the resilience of the patients and families we serve, and by the power of interprofessional collaboration to care for them during life’s most challenging moments. While I once envisioned remaining at the bedside, I came to recognize the broader impact I could make through nursing leadership. In my role as Enterprise Senior Director of Nursing for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Nemours Children’s Health, I lead efforts to optimize care delivery, improve quality and patient outcomes, and cultivate professional growth.
I am honored to serve on the ONCC Board and currently serve as Secretary on the Association of Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurses’ (APHON’s) Board of Directors. I am passionate about fostering nursing engagement in professional organizations. I value lifelong learning and board certification as essential to professional excellence and am committed to helping others realize their potential and shape their own career destiny.
I am a proud mother to my two sons, their incredible wives, and 5 beautiful grandchildren. They bring so much joy to my life!
